Russell Hunt began working in the bowling business at age 15 at Rainbow Lanes in Ogden, Utah. He went on to become a collegiate cross country, track, and basketball athlete, and has been bowling professionally since age 18.
 

Over decades in the sport, Russell has achieved numerous accolades and built an extensive background in training and competition, learning from many great coaches and working alongside some of the best players in the game.

Career Achievements & Honors

  • Member of multiple Bowling Association Halls of Fame

  • PBA Don Patterson Award Recipient (Service Award)

  • First bowler in history (1995–96) to average above 250 for an entire season (251)

  • Repeated this feat in 2024–25, averaging 253

  • First and only bowler to win PBA regional titles with both right and left hands

  • Also accomplished this on the Storm Northwest Tour and at the Central
    Washington Open

  • 100+ 300 games right-handed

  • 32 300 games left-handed

  • High score: 887 right-handed (30-year Utah state record)

  • High score: 858 left-handed

Tournament Titles & Competition Highlights

  • 1993 Bowlers Journal Singles Title – Tulsa, Oklahoma

  • 1996 World Team Challenge Title – Ogden, Utah

  • 2025 Bowling This Month Doubles Title – Baton Rouge, Louisiana

  • Numerous state and local association titles in Utah, Idaho, and Washington

  • State representative for Team USA Trials, US Open, and Masters

  • Numerous Scratch Bowling Association titles including:

    • Grand Prix Bowling Association

    • Top Gun Tour

    • Valley Hopper

    • Southern Idaho Scratch Bowling Association

    • Oregon Bowling Association

Coaching & Professional Experience

Russell has earned many certifications in both coaching and pro shop programs and has coached thousands of bowlers over the years.
 

He enjoys helping all skill levels, from beginner
to professional, not only to improve, but to simply
have fun.

 

When asked what he would like to be known for,
Russell says: “Just that he enjoys helping people
and is easy to talk to.”

Personal Interests

Beyond bowling, Russell’s passions include his
family, playing guitar and piano, chasing a small
white ball, and pursuing a world championship
with his softball team.

He also enjoys serving in the community through multiple groups and giving his time to help others with exercise and nutrition.
